The beginning….

Well I’ve finally started my own blog. I’m really looking forward to sharing my food, wine, dining, travel and photography adventures with you.

My first tip…. learn to love oysters. They are by far the most delectable things on earth. A squeeze of lemon and some freshly cracked pepper and they’re done; keep them simple!

I’ve just returned from my Tasmanian holiday where I bought a dozen oysters from this tiny little service station at Mundunna, just out of Port Arthur – Fresh Live Oysters $8.50 and shucked to order. They were some of the best oysters I’ve ever had the privilege of devouring.

I’ve had many tasty oyster experiences in life, one of those was in the seaside town of Nambucca Heads. We bought them straight from the farm; unopened. We had a small drive ahead and thought we could all shuck them together when we arrived at our next destination Coffs Harbour …. NEVER AGAIN. It was such hard work but boy did they taste good!!

I work near Samies Girl Seafood in Hamilton, they always have fresh quality seafood, sourced from all over Australia. Coffin Bay Oysters are my favorite for sure.

Where’s your favourite oyster experience?

  1. massive cravings for oysters now!

  2. Thanks for the yummy tip Kate; I'll keep an eye out for that for sure!

Jenny your Gujan Mestras experience sounds devine. I'll just have to go and check it out for myself 🙂

  3. Gujan Mestras, France! A gorgeous little fishing village just outside of Bordeaux. Freshly shucked while you wait, served with fresh lemon and a glass of rose.

  4. "Tetsuya's for Oysters" is a wonderful dressing that can be added to fresh oysters. It can be bought from most good delicatessens all over Australia for approx. $13.95 per bottle and consists of grapeseed oil, rice vinegar, soy and ginger. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves fresh oysters.
