As Mum to Heartkid Warrior Emily, Sweetheart Day i

As Mum to Heartkid Warrior Emily, Sweetheart Day is very close to my heart.

I’ve not publicly shared this before, but our Emily was born with a large Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), closed with the Amplatzer Duct Occluder at age 3.5 years because her heart was beating too hard for her little body to handle. She was also born with Perimembranous ventricular septal defects (VSD), which sadly, has begun to leak at age 7, and we face the very real possibility of open-heart surgery to avoid congestive heart failure. As parents, it’s not been easy but thankfully for Dr Justo @queenslandchildrenshospital (we 🩷 u) @heartkids family and close friends, we get through it.

Which brings us to....#Sweetheart Day - a day to celebrate love, raise awareness and vital funds for people impacted by congenital and childhood-onset heart disease (CHD and CoHD).

Let’s face it, who really gets Valentine’s Day gifts after 10+ years of marriage anyway? So, spark the romantic inside of you and donate towards raising awareness for children born with congenital heart disease today.
