Just as perennials return each year with produce that celebrates local flavours and colour, so too do the iconic Jan Powers Farmers Markets in Brisbane. After a three week hiatus, giving farmers a well-earned break, the Powerhouse and Manly Markets will return this coming Saturday, January 16, with the City Markets returning a little later on Wednesday February 3, and Mitchelton on February 7.
From the City, to the Powerhouse markets and out to Manly and Mitchelton, Jan Powers Famers Markets are famed for their ongoing commitment to “Eat Local”, each week showcasing an incredible range of local produce, artisan works and more.
Almost 30 years ago, Jan Powers had a vision; to support farmers and their livelihoods and put pay to the fresh produce and fruits of their labours. She set out singlehandedly with her mission to educate Brisbane on the provenance of their food…. and now, the Jan Powers Farmers Markets are at the heart of Brisbane’s Local Food Revolution – last year alone more than 775,000 people visited a Jan Powers Farmers Market!!
Jan Powers Farmers Markets has a big year ahead working with local producers, farmers, artisans and flavour-makers to bring seasonal produce and tastes every week to Brisbane – creating the quintessential local smorgasbord.
