Byblos - melbourne cup winner

With a range of fabulous events happening across the precinct for the race that stops the nation, Portside Wharf may very well be your Melbourne Cup ticket winner this year.

From Mad Hatters tea parties, to Japanese feasts – there really is something to suit every taste.

Live rabbits will roam along the riverfront at the Alice in Wonderland-inspired luncheon at BYBLOS. A carnival ride, cocktails and cupcakes will accompany a three-course Mezza-style banquet at the sixth annual Mad Hatters Melbourne Cup Tea Party, which last year attracted more than 350 punters and fashionistas.

This year, MODA EVENTS is celebrating Melbourne Cup for a cause and will host the Endeavour Foundation’s luncheon to raise funds that will provide support, education and services for people with a disability. The luncheon includes a two-course meal, beverages, raffles, auctions and fashions on the field as well as a fashion parade by Leigh Buchanan – the superstar from Project Runway Australia.

Japanese fashion, culture and cuisine will align when SONO JAPANESE RESTAURANT serves canapés, a three course lunch, premium beers, wine and sake for its special Melbourne Cup  luncheon. Guests will also enjoy a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne as they watch the main race on the cinema screen at the neighbouring Dendy Cinema, as well as a Dogstar fashion parade and Shu Uemura retouch booth.

At GUSTO DA GIANNI, guests will enjoy a four course lunch with beverages including Prosecco, Italian wines and Australian beers.

BELVEDERE will be serving a sumptuous four course lunch and beverage package with all the Melbourne Cup festivities to match, with the famous Plumm Room also available for hire for an intimate party of up to 20 guests.

Strut your stuff at RESTAURANT MANX with three courses and an optional beverage package including beer, wine and softdrink.

Portside Wharf will be a buzz of excitement with live entertainment along the riverfront boardwalk from 3.00pm to 7.30pm to ensure the festivities continue long after the race has finished. There will also be free shuttle buses running between the racetrack, the precinct and later into Fortitude Valley.

Lee Butterworth, Project Director for Portside Wharf, said Melbourne Cup was one of the most popular days of the year at the precinct.

“The restaurants and fashion outlets put on a fantastic show and the outdoor entertainment along the boardwalk runs long into the evening ensuring there is fun to be had even for those coming after work.”

If you want to celebrate Melbourne Cup at Portside Wharf this year, be sure to get in early and book, as places are limited and always very popular.
